The Opinel No. 8 is a classic French designed knife originally sold as a working man’s knife that came into existence in the 1890’s. Reportedly, Pablo Picasso used one of the company’s knives as a sculpting tool. If that’s not magnificent enough, the knife handle materials range from beechwood, olive wood, walnut, oak, and even bubinga. The blade comes in your choice of either stainless steel or carbon, and although the carbon blade is a tad higher maintenance, a patina adds character to the blade as well as protects it from rusting. Whether you’re using the knife as a pocket carry or a bar tool, the Opinel will certainly be gentlemanly and classy.
